WIND RESISTANCE OF STEEL SHEET COVERINGS

EVERTILE has several times withstood the hurricanes at a speed of around 180 km/h, in the past.

Sheet metal coverings do not hold on the roof by their own weight, but by attaching them to the supporting system (battens or plywood). This is a small disadvantage in assembly, but a big advantage in wind storms. Even heavy tiles can often be picked up by the wind power and scattered around the building. Well-fastened sheet metal roofing resists better. The most durable are small-format steel panels such as Evertile, which are even certified in the USA for use in the hurricane areas of Florida, using Evertile SCR TX-25 screws. Evertile products can withstand wind speeds of around 180 km/h.

Large-format and folded coverings arefixed from above and screwed into battens or plywood through the sheet. Thus, the uplifting power of the wind acts on their retraction = release. If such a loosening occurs at one point on the roof, the entire roof will roll up like a lid on the Sardinia tin and fly off.

The solution is offered by the EVERTILE system, which fixes the panels horizontally across the front edge of the panels and thus against the uplifting power of the wind. The wind does not loosen the fixing of the panels. Even if the roofer fails to fix one panels correctly, it will tear-out, but the others will remain in place and intact.
